Meet the Monoovian

Say hello to Divya Gopinath, QA Engineer at Monoova. Divya shares her experiences at Monoova with us and and some surprising fun facts about herself. 👇

What do you like most about working at Monoova?
I really like the vibrant work environment of Monoova, it’s is so lively and the people are lovely. Our team is very supportive and we always make sure to celebrate the wins – big or small.

How would you describe Monoovians in 3 words?
Futuristic, Spirited and Adaptable

Payments can be quite a dry topic, over the last year what have you learned about payments that has surprised you?
It’s not so dry as one might think! Digital currencies have always been a hot topic, the source of some great discussions. And watching PayTo come to life has been really interesting. I was part of the team working on the PayTo development to launch, which improves cashflow for businesses by enabling real-time direct debits as well as reduce the delays and dishonours associated with failed payments. It’s made me realise that there is a lot of innovation happening in this field and so much more to come.

What does a typical day in the Product Engineering team looks like?
We follow scrum and all agile ceremonies in our team. Everyday is little different, but it always starts with stand up, then having extended meetings for blockers with our scrum master, BAs and developers. We also have architecture meetings, review meetings for new features and release meetings. Sometimes the day is filled with only meetings!  Then there are other days where we literally focus only on work and get things done.

What is your favourite part of your role?
I love being part of the product team. We are continuously designing, building and releasing new products. As a QA, I enjoy the challenge of improving end user goals and experience.

Most memorable moment at Monoova?
Spending time with everyone here is special. We have so many events and activities at office, all memorable, too many to mention and there’s always lots of food.

Favourite way to spend a day off?
Go for a long drive, cycling with family and being involved in cultural activity programs

Best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Things don’t happen by accident. Be inspired to Take Action!!

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?
A magic backpack that fits everything in a Westfield mall.

Should pineapple go on pizza?
Pineapple should go on pizza. I love healthy pizzas that don’t hurt my gut.  I find margarita pizza too greasy and I don’t like salty pizzas.

Would you rather travel to space or travel to the past?
I would rather travel to past so I can see some humans. Definitely a big no to space.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a kid, I would take things apart to see how they worked. I get the same feeling when I find defects and it feels like I have broken something that was seemingly unbreakable. I had no idea where I would end up when I was a kid so I followed what I thought was a passion and ended up in testing.
